Pope Francis shows signs of improvement

The latest update from the Holy See Press Office, released on the evening of March 17, confirms that Pope Francis remains in stable condition with gradual improvement. He is currently receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

Thanks to ongoing respiratory and motor therapies, the Pope is now relying less on high-flow oxygen via nasal cannulas and, at times, does not require oxygen support at all. During the night, non-invasive mechanical ventilation continues to assist him.

The swelling in his hand — visible in photos shared yesterday and caused by limited mobility — has already shown noticeable improvement.

Pope Francis spent his day in prayer, resting, and continuing light work duties.
